Yankees' Chad Green leaves game vs. Orioles with forearm discomfort

The red-hot New York Yankees began Thursday's game at the Baltimore Orioles sitting atop the overall MLB standings at 28-9 but experienced a worrisome setback during the afternoon.

As Dan Martin noted for the New York Post, Yankees right-handed reliever Chad Green was pulled from Thursday's contest with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Per Bryan Hoch of the league's website, the Yankees later called the issue "right forearm discomfort" and said that Green will be re-evaluated in New York at some point on Friday.

The ESPN box score shows Green made just 11 pitches and recorded two outs before he left the field:

While it's too early to say, logic suggests Green likely won't take the bump again through at least the weekend.

According to Baseball-Reference, Green began the day having completed 14.1 innings of work on the campaign. He held a 3.14 ERA, but Martin explained that the 30-year-old had recently found better form and allowed only one run, two hits and two walks with 10 strikeouts over his last six appearances.

The Yankees return to the Bronx to host the Chicago White Sox for a weekend series on Friday.
